A week ago I was asked to do a maternity photo shoot. It was different. Something new to try. We had fun!
I recently found out two of my favorite people are expecting their first baby. There are no words to ever describe how excited I am for them. You two know who you are and you deserve this more than anything. I love you both.

There are two people in my life that I have known since I was 15 years old. We’re still very close and I consider them by brother (Chris) and sister (Emily). In less than six months I have been terrified that I could lose Emily.
The first time was last year when I received a call from Emily’s boyfriend (at the time) stating that she was choking and I needed to go over there. I have never been so afraid of losing a friend in my life. I remember not even thinking twice about grabbing my keys and running out the door. Luckily, she was okay other than just a little shook up).
The second time was just this past Friday. I received an message from Chris stating that there had been a shooting at Discovery Middle School where she teaches. I could barely process the information. I truly didn’t understand how that could be possible. I pulled up WHNT and there was live coverage of the story. I immediately sent her a message begging her to let me know she was okay. She responded soon after assuring me she was okay, but didn’t really know what was going on.
I was at work with no where to “let out my emotions”. I have been mulling over the whole tragedy the past few days. It is truly terrifying to think that someone you love and care about is in danger. I tried my best to be there for her yesterday and hope that I did a good job. I am glad that she is surrounded but such amazing teachers. A group of teachers who look out for each other and take care of each other. They inspire each other, hell they inspire me. The strength they will have to have these next few weeks as students question their safety will probably be one of the hardest strengths they will have to obtain. They will have to overcome their own fears and be strong for the students. These teachers are true silent heroes. They are the ones who protect children and help children grow into intelligent human beings. Kudos to Discovery for keeping such incredible men and women on your staff.
Something like this always makes me stop dead in my tracks and realize what I have been taking for granted in my life. My parents raised me to never take anyone or anything for granted and I always try my best, but we get so wrapped up in our lives. We all work, some of us go to school, some of us have other goals we’re trying to achieve, we’re starting families. But, we should try and remember those who have our backs and who have always had our backs. We should love them and keep them close. When they’re gone, it will be too late. Life is short, life is precious. We are ALL so vulnerable.
For Emily-you are my sister and I love you. I am so very glad that you are surrounded by people who can help you get through this. I am always here for you, no matter what, until the end. <3

Something I promised I would do this year is blog more and what a way to start.
Rearview Ghost last played on Jan 15th at Crossroads and what show! This band rocks like no other. To start off they are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. They are fun-loving, down-to-earth and just…well good people.
Rearview Ghost is made-up of Josia (vocals), Flip (bass), Craig (guitar) and Eddie (drums). If you are looking for a good, solid rock band in Huntsville, this is the band to see. I have had many disappointments, but not these guys.
My favorite tune by RVG: Fly. Hands down. It’s a bluesy tune and Josia’s sultry voice is hypnotizing!

If you wanted to support someone in Huntsville this it folks! Show you’re support!
