Kesha and Alex: Wedding

Written by Chrissy on June 24th, 2010

A few weeks ago I worked a wedding for Kesha Fails and Alex Dumas. Although the day did not go smoothly and the theme for the day seemed to be “What can go wrong, will go wrong,” they survived the day. I really enjoyed seeing two people come together and believe in each other as well as lean on each other. I really appreciated that they didn’t let the “bumps” in the road get to them. They were getting married. That’s all that mattered. The wedding was absolutely beautiful!

My next tattoo…

Written by Chrissy on May 28th, 2010

So Shay and I have been thinking of tattoos that we’re going to get while in Vegas. I have been tossing around a few ideas.  I am stuck on this right now. It’s funny that I would get Mofro lyrics for a tattoo, but this song hts home everytime. I believe when you use your body as a canvas you should put your heart on your body. The first (and only) tattoo I currently have says, “Fight the good fight”. It’s nice to have something there to remind me every now and again things that are important in life. It is so easy to get caught up in everything and not take time to stop and realize that life is really amazing-no matter the challenges. The challenges make you who you are. I will also eventually get “the center cannot hold” and “life is beautiful”, but for now… this will do. Now to pick out the lettering!!

I believe in everything
from a river running backwards
to a bee when it stings
and I believe
in the voices out here
telling me to hold on
but let go of my fear
I believe in what I can’t change
in a hard lesson learned
and the strength from my pain
and I believe
in what I can’t prove
in the joy of not knowing
and the misunderstood
let go of my past
let go of my future
one cloud at a time
yes I’m dreamingthe memory of one moment
is the beginning and the end of who I am

Shawnta and Charlie: Wedding

Shawnta and Charlie: Gulf Shores

Shawnta and Charlie: Gulf Shores

About two weeks ago the fiance and I packed up our car (and the doggie) and headed to Gulf Shores. Shawnta and Charlie let me shoot their wedding for them and I was so excited! A beach wedding was on my “To-Do List” and this was the perfect time to get a little eperience under my belt. Because I am so quiet and shy I was a little concerned how it would be spending a few days with complete strangers (they graciously let us stay with them). Their families were a blast! We had so much fun getting to spend time with them. Shay even got to perform some magic! Their wedding only close family and friends and it was absolutely beautiful.

We weren’t sure how it was going to turn out. Before we headed down the weather showed rain. The morning of the wedding it didn’t look so good, but the skies cleared and they had the most beautiful weather for their wedding. Congrats you guys!

Mark and Kelly: Wedding

Written by Chrissy on May 28th, 2010

About a month ago I worked a wedding for such an adorable couple. They are young and have such a pure and honest love for one another. They had their ceremony and reception at Sharon JohnstonPark (which if you haven’t gone, you should!) It was a small, quaint wedding (about 30 guests). It was close, it was personal…it was absolutely perfect. They made their day special and it was exactly what they wanted. Luckily, they are both used to being in front of the camera (Mark’s mom is a local photographer) so photographing them was easy. I hope they enjoy their photos and I hope I our paths cross again! Congrats you two!!

Shawnta and Charlie: Engagement Session

Engagement Session: 03.27.10

I had the pleasure of working with Shawnta and Charlie on their engagement session last weekend. I remember the whole week before I was so worried about the weather, but it turned out to be a beautiful day (a little windy, but beautiful nonetheless). This being my first engagement session I wasn’t really sure what to expect. As a photographer, there is nothing better than when a couple makes it easy.

From the beginning they were laughing with each other and kissing each other. This is a couple truly in love. I am honored to be able to photograph their wedding and her “trash-the-dress” session. People like Shawnta and Charlie make photography fun! :) Happy engagement you two! See you on the beach in a month!

Finding inspiration…

Written by Chrissy on March 27th, 2010

I have always been the type of person who needs some sort of creative outlet whether it be music, crafts, photography, writing, etc. Sometimes I feel myself losing inspiration for the things I love and have to find ways to spark that inspiration. I was watching America’s Next Top Model (I just like to see the shoots :P ) and Jay asked the girls where they find their inspiration. Everyone who answered mentioned a person. My immediate thought was “music”.

I love how music can help me find inspiration in everything I do. I will absolutely lose myself in a song, an albm or an artist. I love that music can stop my dead in my tracks on any type of day and make me dance. Have you ever stopped and thought about the feeling you get when that “one” song comes on? The song that just really brings you back or that pushes your forward? It’s pretty amazing.

I am lucky enough to be able to do some really fun work with some great people over the next few months. I think for my photography (for now) I am going to let the people I am photographing inspire me. I love people and all of the different things they can bring to the table. Time to get inspired!!!

Muse: I think my head exploded!

Written by Chrissy on March 19th, 2010
Some of the "light show" from Muse.

Some of the "light show" from Muse.

So on Monday, March 15th I was able to see my (current) favorite band! Muse. My friend Chris (@dimwell) told me to be prepared because my head would explode. As the show slowly began he kept bugging me with things like, “Wow, what are they gonna do with that?” and “Where are their instruments?” Chris already knew what Muse had in store for the Sommet Center…or Bridgestone Arena rather, that evening. He always watches shows in other cities to get an idea of what type of show to expect.

Me on the other hand? I wait. Sometimes I will take a sneak-peak. You know…get a little taste of what’s in store for me. Well I am glad that this time I waited. What they had in store for me was a surprise and made it all that much more amazing!

The put on an amazing show starting it off with their current hit “Uprising” from their current album The Resistance. What a way to start a show. They of course played other hits such as my personal favorite Supermassive Blackhole (which can also be found on the Twilight soundtrack), Hysteria, Feeling Good, Twighlight, and Time is Running Out. They closed the show out with Knights of Cydonia (just as I wanted). What a show.  Note: You can check out the full set list http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/muse/2010/bridgestone-arena-nashville-tn-2bd4ac32.html

The lasers were the most surprising to me. I know Muse puts on huge shows in Europe, but I never expected them to bring the “big guns” to the U.S. They didn’t either (check out their article in Rolling Stone).

Thank you Muse for being my favorite band of all time right now in this moment. Much love!

Precious Little Things…

Written by Chrissy on February 18th, 2010

A week ago I was asked to do a maternity photo shoot. It was different. Something new to try. We had fun!Jennifer, Lana and baby

I recently found out two of my favorite people are expecting their first baby. There are no words to ever describe how excited I am for them. You two know who you are and you deserve this more than anything. I love you both.
